Adults or high school students can volunteer Monday-Thursday from June 12 to July 27, from 10 am to 12 pm. Join San Antonio Youth Literacy’s Camp Read-Aloud and help the SAYL Staff create a fun adventure each week with an exciting read-aloud book and follow-up activities! You will be helping 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students improve their literacy skills by reading and playing educational games together! Volunteer one week or all six. Book Buddies have been even busier than usual winding up the year with our Book Celebrations in eight elementary schools in the SAISD. In all more than 4,000 children were able to choose several books to take home and keep – more than 16,000 books in all! This doubles the schools and children served last year, and next year we hope to be able to double our numbers again. Read more >>
