San Antonio: A Journey Through Time
Join us for the 2023 San Antonio Youth Literacy annual luncheon. This year, we will feature a conversation with award-winning author Catherine Nixon Cooke. Her newest book San Antonio: City on a Mission details a dramatic look at the people and events that have shaped San Antonio over the years. Discover little known facts about your city and its many colorful characters…there will be some surprises! Cooke has written eight books, including In Search of Tom Slick: Explorer and Visionary (now in production as a podcast starring Andy Samberg as Slick) and Juan O’Gorman: A Confluence of Civilizations (documenting the life of the Mexican artist who created the extraordinary mural that graces the Lila Cockrell Theatre). Cook’s most recent book, San Antonio: City on a Mission, was published in December and co-authored with Hon. Henry Cisneros, former mayor of San Antonio and U.S. HUD Secretary in President Bill Clinton’s administration, and current chairman of the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, D.C.
