Congratulations to our School of the Month – Clear Spring Elementary in NEISD! Our volunteers are always greeted by Clear Spring’s friendly front office staff before their session begins, and our helpful Site Director, Ms. Cardenas, can usually be found in her office right next to the SAYL trunk. As the school’s Instructional Intervention Teacher, she is always willing to go the extra mile and gladly offers tips and advice to Reading Buddies who would like to learn a little more about how to make the most out of their time with their students. Clear Spring has developed a system where students are alternatively pulled first for their sessions, and everyone works hard to ensure they are receiving the reading guidance they need while not missing out on important classwork and time with peers. Clear Spring goes above and beyond for their volunteers as well, which shows in the kind attitude of the staff who have even provided Halloween candy bags for the Reading Buddies during October! All the attention to detail by Clear Spring’s thoughtful staff really makes it a wonderful place to tutor, and SAYL is so excited to congratulate and thank them for making the Reading Buddy program so great!
