Come have a pie for lunch or dinner and 20% of your check will be donated to SAYL! Must present this flyer to your server to enable your check to count towards SAYL!
Cocktails for a Cause – Thursday, May 25
Blue Box Bar at the Pearl – 312 Pearl Parkway
A percentage of all drink sales between 5-8 p.m. will go towards the SAYL Reading Buddy Program. Hourly raffle prizes include gift cards, wine, and more! Stop by after work and bring a friend!

Reading Buddy Tip – Building Confidence 
You can probably think of times in your life where being less-skilled at something others seemed to be able to do quite well made you feel inadequate. Many students experience similar feelings when they recognize they are not reading at the same level as some of their peers. This lack of reading confidence can be an obstacle to developing a positive self-image and can impede growth in reading if it causes anxiety or affects motivation. Read more >>
Book Buddy News

Book Buddies have been busy gathering and sorting books in the run-up to our giveaway celebrations at the end of the school year. Volunteers are doing their best to make sure we reach our goal of twenty thousand books by the time they go off to the elementary schools to be picked by the students. At last estimation, we have only about 4 thousand to go, with several drives coming in this month. Read more >>

Volunteer Spotlight
Our Volunteer Spotlight this month is highlighting our awesome partnership with St. George Episcopal Church! Members of St. George invited SAYL to present about the Reading Buddy Program back in August of 2015. Shortly after, a group from their church became Reading Buddies for the 2015-2016 school year. Read more >>
Site Director Spotlight
This month we are honoring Ms. Lucinda Flores from Collins Garden Elementary as our Site Director of the Month! Ms. Flores has been at Collins Garden in SAISD since 2008. She is the school’s Librarian and has served as our Site Director for the past six years. Read more >>
