Just a short note this month to comment on the warm feeling I experience every time I see pictures of children frolicking in the cool water of summer and their expressions of pure unadulterated joy. Wow, what a rush! The only other time I have been privileged to witness this type of joy is when a child realizes for the first time that they can read and understand a book all by themselves. You know as a teacher, I realized early in my career that it would never be a monetarily rewarding endeavor, but there is no feeling in the entire world to equal that of knowing that you were directly involved in unlocking an entire universe for a child.
